Mikey Musumeci used an apparently new heel hook variation at WNO that someone hastily baptized "Mikey lock"!
In a press interview Musumeci said: "What I developed was ... a hybrid of an Inside Toe Hold, because it puts more pressure on the foot; but then it also puts Heel Hook pressure on the knee… It’s been so efficient for me. I’m so excited to share this with everyone so then they can start implementing this in their game, because it’s gonna fix all your problems with Heel Hooks that you have".
The first time I saw this kind of Heel Hook it was so long ago in a Bas Rutten video series. When Bas registered this VHS tapes, in distant 1997, Mikey was one years old! Then Baret Yoshida hit this finish at ADCC in 2001.
I don't know who invented this heel hook but one thing is for sure: Mikey can not take credit for having invented it.

In un'intervista alla stampa Musumeci ha dichiarato: "Quello che ho sviluppato è un ibrido tra un Inside Toe Hold e un Heel Hook dal momento che metti pressione sul piede ma anche sul ginocchio ... per me è molto efficace. Sono così entusiasta di condividerlo con tutti in modo che possano iniziare a implementarlo nel loro gioco, perché risolverà tutti i vostri problemi con gli Heel Hooks".
La prima volta che ho visto questo tipo di Heel Hook è stato tanto tempo fa in una serie video di Bas Rutten. Quando Bas registrò queste VHS, nel lontano 1997, Mikey aveva un anno! Poi Baret Yoshida lo usò nel 2001 all'ADCC!
