Dettagli stupidi - Stupid details
gennaio 30, 2021
english post, Principles

Non rollo per far male al mio avversario - I'm not rolling to beat my opponent
marzo 02, 2016
Bjj lifestyle, english post

Mik Milman is a professional Photographer and a Jiu Jitsu pratictioner. His project “People Who Train” It's defined by himself an ongoing series about the every day practitioners of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
In the last episode of "Academy" from filmmaker and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner Matthew Hickney, Mik Milman share with us all some of his personal Jiu Jitsu philosophy, why he train, and why he started the People Who Train Project.
These are some of his thoughts: "I'm not rolling to beat my opponent. In jiu-jitsu you don't have:" Oh shit I'm losing, oh shit I need this, I should be doing that, you just letting it happen. Jiu Jitsu is the place I'm most able to be present.
We train against resisting opponents. You know if it works because everyday at the gym you test it.
Training and dedicating your life to jiu-jitsu does not make you a good person, but if you are willing to confront your ego and face who you are then jiu-jitsu can be a conduit to becoming a better person.
I just see how hard life is and I say: let's make it a little bit better for everyone about empathy, I think the far more important than anything else caring about your fellow human being, I think that's what draws me to jiu-jitsu more than anything.
I wanted to show a side of Jiu Jitsu that wasn't getting attention, I wanted to show people that have full-time jobs raising a family and they still make it to the gym even if it's only twice a week those people are honorable".

Rickson e Rener - Rickson and Rener
gennaio 18, 2016
english post, News
In an interview with Tatame Rickson Gracie says he had a confrontation with Rener Gracie after reading that he promoted online students to blue belt. Rickson told him that if he continued to do this he would denigrate his image, saying that he was a charlatan. The blue belt - says Rickson - needs to be a confident guy that is a tough guy that can handle an aggression. And for that, he can not get a belt over the Internet.

Scarlett Johansson on the mat
gennaio 03, 2016
english post, News
Scarlett Johansson has been training some Jiu Jitsu with Rigan Machado. We remeber to our readers that Rigan Machado Designs a Jiu-Jitsu System without Sparring for Celebrities that can be drilled and trained without risking injury. Rigan calls this style for celebrities “flow jiu jitsu”. He said:
“I created a new jiu jitsu system for people who can’t get hurt. It’s technical training. They learn jiu-jitsu and technically train, but it’s all safe. I created a type of jiu-jitsu for the Beverly Hills clientele. Competition, sparring… these guys can’t do that. I can’t even take a 1% chance of them getting hurt. I have 18 celebrities doing this program. Some guys have to sign disclosure agreements; others like Ashton Kutcher and Mickey Rourke come in regularly, while Usher comes in once and a while and Vin Diesel when he’s in town.”
