Helvécio Augusto Penna Neto è una cintura nera di Judo graduato a 42 anni cintura nera dal leggendario maestro Riccardo de la Riva. E' 7 volte campione dei master & senior e il suo nome ha iniziato ad essere famoso nel mondo del BJJ dal 2006 per la sua abilità in combattimento nelle categorie adulto e per essere arrivato ai quarti di finali contro Xande Ribeiro che quell'anno sconfisse Roger Gracie in finale. Nel 2010 Helvecio è arrivato primo ai trials dello stato di Rio a 49 anni.
Alla recente edizione degli Europei di Lisbona Helvecio ha combattuto di nuovo nella categoria adulto contro giovani che vivono il bjj come un lavoro raccogliendo l'affetto e la stima di tutto il pubblico presente. In questa intervista realizzata dall'amico Freddy Linhares per la rivista Budo potete ascoltre da lui cosa lo sprona, superati i 50 anni, ad essere sempre pronto per una nuova sfida sul tatami.

Helvécio Augusto Penna Neto is 7 times master & senior champion, his name started to be known in the world of bjj in 2006 for his fighting prowess in the adults division. At the 2006 World Championships Helvecio made it to the Quarter Finals where he fought the heavy favourite Alexandre Ribeiro. The hard fought battle was 0×0 on the score boards until around the 8th minute when Helvecio gassed and succumbed to “Xande’s” triangle. In 2010 Helvecio achieved 1st place at the Rio de Janeiro State Trials at the age of 49 in the adult division.
In the last edition of the European held in Lisbon Helvecio fought in the adult division again receiving by the crowd a tribute of sincere affection and esteem. In this Interview, realized by my friend Freddy Linhares for Budo magazine you can hear what push him to be ready to fight at fifty and be always in shape for a new challenge on the mat.
